Coverup tattoos ~ the process

I'd be lying if I said the coverup process was a simple one. Let's just say its complicated.
Depending on the degree of difficulty, what you have might be something that can be covered in a single session or maybe not. You may have trauma wrapped around the old tattoo which makes it especially challenging for you to approach the subject. I get that and understand from working with clients in the same situation and navigating a way through that with them. It's OK. I got you.
There are a range of things to consider when assessing a potential coverup tattoo.
The texture of the skin, whether or not there's been any scarring
if there is scarring, how risen the scar tissue is and how that will be best placed in the coverup. Sometimes scar tissue can be used to eccentuate the new design with strategic placement of the new design.
The density of the old ink, the age of it and what kind of ink it is.
The new design needs to also be considered carefully to see if it is a credible candidate or not. Once again, depending on the complexity of the old tattoo there will be some things that will work and some that wont. Options are often very limited when it comes to a successful cover so it is highly recommended for complex covers that the first step is a coverup assessment. This can be done by messenger to get the ball rolling followed by a design consultation if its deemed necessary.
